Strays is a community for photographic artists working outside the usual channels, where esoteric ways of seeing are taken seriously.
We exist for artists making work in spare rooms, sheds, side streets, borrowed studios, obscure online outposts and unfinished notebooks. Photography shaped by unusual processes, personal histories, abstract obsessions and attention to what is overlooked or half-seen.
The Strays website is a home for work that could only have been made by the person who made it. We publish considered articles, not photo dumps: pieces that bring context to the images and give the work a better chance of reaching the right audiences and opportunities.
If you’d like to contribute to Strays, you can find out more here.
Who is Strays?
Strays is the sum of its contributors and collaborators. The community is managed and moderated by Jamie Winder, a Singapore-based Creative Director with 20+ years of experience in the creative field, and Suridh Hassan, a London-based film maker and independent publisher focused on visual culture (Soi Books).
